Job Title: Gardener
We seek outgoing, pro-active, hands- on persons to join our garden maintenance team to assist in all aspects of garden installation and ongoing maintenance programs. This is an entry level position offering job promotions. The position reports directly to the Director of Operations
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the installation and construction of small “city-sized” in ground garden
- Assist in the installation of custom container gardens
- Deliver nursery stock to site, carry stock to garden locations – patios, roofs, balcony, front yard
- Plant, weed, dead-head, rake, transplant, mulch
- Organize jobsite by keeping tools, equipment, planting material and trash organized
- Maintain, clean and organize trucks on daily and weekly basis
- Care of tools and equipment
Required Qualifications:
- Be Punctual and present a clean, professional work attire
- Prior hands-on gardening and / or landscaping experience a plus
- Desire for gardening / landscaping to be your chosen profession
- Team-player who promotes a professional, cheerful and respectful work environment
- Massachusetts Driver’s License & Mass DOT medical card preferred
Physical Nature of the Job:
- Requires extensive physical outdoor gardening work, including heavy lifting items
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Able to climb stairs, ladders and work on roof tops
- Able to get in / out of cargo vans and dump trucks
- Able to work in inclement weather – heat, humidity, rain, snow, cold

Horticulturist: A Horticulturist is a vital member of our team and is interested in all aspects of horticulture. From perennial garden installation and plant care to container design, installation and care to exterior property management. Garden services are provided from April 1 to December 15.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the team to produce excellent and profitable product
- Assist Crew Leader with instructing and directing general gardeners
- Opens garden and prepares garden for growing season
- Prunes, transplants, dead-heads, weeds, rakes, mulches and performs other tasks as assigned
- Apply organic fertilizers according to schedule
- Apply IPM strategies
- Installs holiday displays
- Closes garden and prepared garden for winter season
- Uses battery operated equipment
- Maintains a clean and orderly job site
- Maintains and cares for company equipment and tools
- Follows jobs-site and vehicle safety procedures
- Attends training classes and seminars as requested by Field Manager
Experienced required for this position:
- Posses a positive professional work ethic
- 2 year residential fine gardening experience
- Plant identification and maintenance knowledge, Industry certification (MCLP, MCH), a plus
- Professional appearance and strong work ethic
- Ability to lift and carry 50 to 75 lbs.
- Ability to work in all weather
- Massachusetts Driver’s License and comfort driving and parking in Boston
- DOT Medical Card

Horticultural Plant Buyer: The Horticultural Plant Buyer and Gardener is a full-time, in person, year-round position comprised of two critical functions to the success of our company: Plant Procurement and Fine Gardener. The position is fast paced requiring excellent planning, organization and time management skills, attention to detail and the ability work on multiple projects at once.
Responsibilities
Product procurement:
- Source, procure and deliver tree, shrub, ground-cover, ornamental grass, perennial and annual plants, seasonal displays (i.e. pumpkins, gords, etc.) and holiday decorations (i.e., trees, garland, wreaths, organics, ribbon, etc.)
- Tag plant materials and organize materials by client/jobsite so that field managers can easily access
- Maintain accurate records for invoicing products
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with existing and new vendors: nurseries, garden centers, growers and online providers
- Attend tradeshows, industry association meetings
- Research gardening trends, elements, décor and propose for client’s garden
Fine Gardener:
- Assist Field Manager with instructing and directing gardeners
- Opens garden and prepares garden for growing season
- Prunes, transplants, dead-heads, weeds, rakes, mulches and performs other tasks as assigned
- Fertilizes plantings and follow organic pest management program
- Closes garden and prepared garden for winter season
- Installs holiday displays
Responsibilities Time Allotment:
- Product Procurement:
- Spring, early Summer & early Fall: 70% of time will be allocated to product procurement with 30 % allocated to providing fine gardening services.
- Summer, mid Fall to early Winter: 70% of time will be allocated to fine gardening and holiday installation, with 30% time allocated to product procurement
- Winter: Research and Development of gardening trends and garden enhancements to propose to existing clients
Experienced required for this position:
- 2 – 3 prior experience of industry vendors and gardening experience
- Plant Identification and maintenance knowledge a must. Industry certificate a plus
- Massachusetts Driver’s license and excellent driving history with comfort driving and parking in Boston
- Ability to drive dump truck and cargo vans
- DOT medical card
- Ability to collaborate and work as a team member
- Ability to multi-task and good time management skills
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Strong knowledge of the following Software/Technology: o Google calendar, Gmail, Dropbox
- Excellent verbal and written communications
